A Brief Description of the Science and Processes Involved in Helium Leak Detection:

Leak detection utilizing helium has a complex history dating back to the first half of the twentieth century and is used in a variety of processes and industries. Helium is used as the preferred tracer gas for eliminating leaks for a variety of reasons, including its non-flammability, non-toxicity, and inexpensiveness relative to other gases. Likewise, its inert state and small atomic size (helium has an atomic mass unit of 4 - second only to hydrogen, which has an AMU of 2) allows the gas to pass through leaks with ease. Unlike hydrogen however, helium is stable and non-explosive, providing a better alternative to be used in leak detection processes.

Utilizing the beneficial qualities of helium, a Helium Leak Detector pumps molecules of the gas into the device's analyzer cell through the use of vacuum pumps. The analyzer cell works on the principle of mass spectroscopy and measures the gas's partial pressure, displayed on the device's spectrometer. A higher reading indicates that a leak may be present, as represented by the quantity and concentration of helium molecules that have passed through a given space, as analyzed by the device. The leak detector converts this partial pressure of molecules into a flow rate. Helium leak detectors are known to be extremely precise and exhibit unparalleled accuracy in detecting leaks.

Pfeiffer Adixen ASM 340 I With External Hiscroll 6 Dry Primary Pump, Universal Voltage 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz. All Components mounted on the mobile cart. US340000 / PN24569 / MSXA00A2MM9A / PDS10000

Pfeiffer Adixen ASM 340 I with External Hiscroll 6 / PDS10000 Dry Pump, Integrable Version Helium Leak Detector - Product Overview:

The Pfeiffer ASM 340 I Leak Detector is a high performance and very easy operation. Pfeiffer ASM 340 I guarantees high performance in a vacuum and sniffing leak detection. Adixen ASM 340I has various applications in small production environments for maintenance. The ASM 340-I has an effective pumping system and is available in two different versions dry or conventional. ASM 340 I is ultra-fast response time, short recovery time, easy operation. Pfeiffer ASM 340 I is the ideal solution for testing every day.

The Pfeiffer Adixen ASM 340 I (Integrable Version) is a fully automatic, multi-purpose, compact table top dry helium/hydrogen leak detector. It consists of a Pfeiffer hybrid turbo drag vacuum pump and integrated oil-free roughing/backing pump. The ASM 340 D is ideally suited for both repetitive and non-repetitive sequential testing applications requiring ultra-clean operations for both inboard vacuum testing and outboard sniffer testing.

The ASM 340 I has a high sensitivity of 5*E-12 atm. cc/sec helium for inboard vacuum testing and 5*E-9 atm. cc/sec helium for outboard sniffer testing. It has a high quantitative inlet port test pressure of up to 25 mbar and 100 mbar qualitative testing pressure for massive leak identification. A high helium pumping speed (2.5 l/s) allows for quick response and recovery time.

The ASM 340 I has a high resolution 3-mass 180-degree deflection mass spectrometer with a VHS preamplifier, which adds enhanced sensitivity, stability, and durability. The ASM 340 I has a high performance (53 l/s) Pfeiffer hybrid turbo molecular drag pump with an added superior compression ration and low maintenance operation.
