The oil mist filter is attached to the exhaust port of rotary vane pumps, where it captures oil mist particles from the exhaust stream, thereby minimizing the emission of operating fluid mist. Housed in a corrosion-resistant aluminum casing, the filter elements consist of a cylindrical medium made of glass/polyester fleece for both standard and helium-tight configurations, or sintered carbon for use with corrosive gases. A baffle is positioned above the filter element to aid in flow management.
To prevent the system from exceeding the maximum allowable operating pressure of 1500 hPa (absolute), an integrated pressure relief valve automatically opens when the filter becomes overly contaminated. The filtered operating fluid can be monitored via a sight glass and drained through a screw plug. For continuous operation, an optional operating fluid return system allows the recovered fluid from the OME to be fed back into the pump without interruption.
