Scrollvac 15 / 141015V10 Overview:

This new Leybold Scrollvac 15 Plus dry vacuum pumps are produced to operate in a broad spectrum of applications - general laboratory, research, General vacuum pumping applications, Mass Spectomerty, Backing turbo pumps, Research and development and many more other vacuum applications. Pumping Speed 14.5 m3/h, 8.5 cfm

Each of the available ScrollVac pump models (Scrollvac 7 Plus, 10 Plus, 15 Plus, and 18 Plus) consist of two spiral forms - one moves in an orbiting motion relative to the other, fixed spiral which provides the ultimate vacuum performance. This eccentric design allows several crescent-shaped volumes to be generated. During this process, the volumes are driven from the outside to the inside of the spirals resulting in gas compression. ScrollVac 15 is known as a very quiet scroll pump.

The ScrollVac is now equipped with the latest technology with a universal voltage power supply for implementation throuthout entire world within voltage range from 100-127 VAC / 200-240VAC 50/60 Hz. The ScrollVac 15 Plus pumps are truly dry vacuum pumps as all the internal bearings, with their hydrocarbon lubricant, are isolated from the vacuum space. The body of the ScrollVac pump includes a fixed scroll and an orbiting scroll. The orbiting scroll design is controlled by an electric motor through an eccentric crank on the main motor drive shaft. Gas that enters through the inlet of ScrollVac 15 pump is compressed by the movement of the orbiting scroll design and moved towards the center of the fixed scroll.

The compressed gas enters the exhaust port near the center of the fixed scroll and is exhausted from the ScrollVac 15 pump through the outlet port. The pump is equiped with customer interface, electric terminal box and an embedded 3-phase electric motor. The electric terminal box provides a method for connecting and configuring the 3-phase supply to the embedded 3-phase motor. The user interface provided by the terminam box consists of :

  • 3-Phase Power Input - wiring terminals and cable gland
  • Hours Center with compact lithium cell battery (1,2 DimethoxyEthane R- REACH Candidate List of Substances of Very High Convern, in the electrolyte).

The ScrollVac 15 3-phase scroll pump is intially adjusted for high voltage usage, i.e. 380-415 V 50 Hz, and 460 V 60Hz. The flanges of the 3-phase pump are closed, and the power cable is not supplied.

The ScrollVac 15 features Gas ballast control to pump high vapour loads, gas ballast can be delivered into the pump to prevent condensation of the vapour carried by the pumped gases. Air can be introduced to the low vacuum stages through the gas ballast control (Manual Figure 1, item 3). Alternatively, an inert gas such as nitrogen can be supplied through a suitable external valve and by using the appropriate adaptor,
available as an accessory. All surfaces of the ScrollVac 15 pump which are exposed to the pumped gases are free from copper, zinc and cadmium. Exposed components include: anodised, aluminium scrolls, aluminium housing, nickel-plated inlet and exhaust ports, PTFE composite tip-seals, various stainless steel parts and fluorocarbon elastomer seals. Other materials of construction not exposed to vacuum include steel, copper, hydrocarbon lubricant and chemically resistant polymers.

Scrollvac15 Plus Applications:

  • Radiation
  • High magnetic field applications
  • Physical research
  • Industrial applications: degassing, vacuum ovens, sterilization
  • Cyclic duties
  • Wet chemistry laboratories
  • Pumping of condensable vapors
  • Backing pump for turbomolecular and cryopump systems
  • Biological laboratories
  • Cryogenics
  • Curing Epoxy
