The nEXT 240D pumps consist of the turbomolecular pump with a permanently attached controller containing drive electronics.
The controller controls the electrical supply to the pump with the exception of standby speed control. It has no manual controls and can only be operated through the logic interface. To operate the nEXT-240 D pump you must connect it to your own control equipment and power supply or alternatively use the Edwards TIC Turbo Instrument Controller or TIC Turbo Controller.
nEXT 240D pumps are supllied with an inlet-screen fitted into the centering O-ring for ISO version pumps and into envelope for CF version pumps. nEXT240 (B81200101) pumps with an NW 25 interstage-port are supplied with an inlet-strainer that fits into the interstage-port. The inlet-screen and inlet-strainer protect the pump against damage that would be caused by debris entering the pump.
The nEXT 240 pumps have a vent-port for venting the pump and vacuum system to atmospheric pressure. The pump is supplied with a manual vent-vavle fitted; this can be replaced with a TAV5 or TAV6 solenoid-operated vent-valve. The TAV valve can be directly controlled by the on-board controller.
The nEXT B81200101 pumps have a purge-port: an inert purge gas can be introduced protect the bearing and motor from corrosion. An optional vent-port adapter and purge restrictor can be fitted to the purge-port to control the flow rate of the purge gas and to filter the gas supply.
Air-coolers and a water-cooling block are available.
The pump name refers to the true peak pumping speed for nitrogen gas.
The nEXT platform brings a high level of modularity to offer maximum flexibility for customer application and requirements. Each pump is available in two different internal configurations to offer differing performance
Duplex - “D” - variants with both turbomolecular and drag stages for improved tolerance to higher backing line pressures.
Triplex - “T” - variants with turbo, drag and Edwards unique fluid dynamic stages for the ultimate in compression ratio and Boost technology for maximum vacuum system rationalisation.
